Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and observe changes in condition, reporting concerns promptly
- Support mealtime assistance and feeding as needed while respecting dietary plans
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and follow infection-control practices
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through clear, respectful communication
- Collaborate with nursing staff to implement care plans and support therapy goals
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (state nursing assistant credential) required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
- Previous experience caring for older adults preferred; new grads with strong compassion welcome
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required immunizations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a collaborative care team
- Reliable attendance and a professional, patient-focused attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA / State Nursing Assistant certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and safe transfer techniques
- Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs and observing clinical changes
- Knowledge of infection prevention, resident rights, and privacy practices
- Good charting and basic documentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills — patience, empathy, and clear communication with residents and families
- Ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed nursing staff
