Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop individualized plans of care using the nursing process
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to hospital policy
• Document patient care clearly and promptly to support continuity and quality
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and self-care
• Use critical thinking to anticipate changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately
• Participate in unit performance improvement efforts and shared governance activities
• Lend clinical expertise and guidance across units to support the patients longitudinal plan of care

Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification (required)
• Demonstrated experience or strong competency in cardiac care and telemetry
• Comfort working across Med-Surg, Stroke/Neuro and Step-Down ICU environments
• Ability to float to different units and collaborate with diverse clinical teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and care planning
• Medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Accurate and timely nursing documentation
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and arrhythmia recognition
• Stroke assessment using NIHSS
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and effective communication
• Patient and family education with an emphasis on safety
• Strong critical thinking and escalation skills
