Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage complex hemodynamics using Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines to keep critically ill cardiac patients stable.
• Provide expert ventilator management and respiratory support for post-op and critically ill patients.
• Deliver high-acuity post-operative care for CABG and VAD patients and manage cardiac cath recovery with mechanical support devices when needed.
• Perform continuous assessment, prioritize interventions, and apply strong critical thinking in emergent situations.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, perfusion, respiratory therapy and surgical teams — to optimize patient outcomes.
• Document care accurately in Meditech and complete timely order entry to ensure continuity and safety.
• Maintain ACLS/BLS readiness and respond effectively to codes and rapid responses.

Qualifications

• Active TX RN License required — no temporary licenses accepted.
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU/CVICU experience.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• NIH training required (per unit request).
• Demonstrated experience with hemodynamic monitoring, Swan-Ganz catheters, and arterial lines.
• Hands-on ventilator management experience in a critical care setting.
• Willingness to float per Methodist Floating Policy and adapt to unit needs.

Education

• Active RN licensure in Texas (TX RN License) — specialty/unit RN certification implied

Knowledge & Skills

• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Swan-Ganz catheter management
• Arterial line management
• Advanced ventilator management
• Experience with IABP, Impella and ECMO (preferred)
• CRRT exposure (preferred)
• Meditech charting and order entry (preferred)
• Post-CABG and post-VAD care
• Strong critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making
