Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and recovery
• Perform triage assessments and conduct non-stress tests (NSTs) to evaluate maternal-fetal well-being
• Serve as the second nurse at deliveries and manage overflow patients to ensure safe, coordinated births
• Collaborate closely with physicians, pediatricians, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient-centered care
• Support and manage patients experiencing pregnancy, birth, or postpartum complications with calm, skilled interventions
• Perform neonatal assessments and support initial newborn care including stabilization and rapid escalation when needed
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly and promptly to support continuity of care
• Participate in unit-based teamwork and quality initiatives to continuously improve maternal-newborn outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, active RN licensure (able to practice as a Registered Nurse)
• Labor-trained (required)
• Certifications required: NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), STABLE, and Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or above)
• Experience working in Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and newborn/neo settings
• Comfortable serving as second nurse at deliveries and collaborating with pediatric/physician teams
• Experience in a Critical Access Hospital environment is a strong plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery nursing and LDRP experience
• Postpartum nursing and newborn care
• Fetal monitoring interpretation and competency (Intermediate+)
• Neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and stabilization (STABLE)
• Performing triage and conducting NSTs
• Delivery support as second nurse and overflow management
• Strong interdisciplinary communication with physicians and pediatric teams
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
