Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality inpatient psychiatric nursing care for adult forensics patients using the nursing process
- Lead clinical supervision of Mental Health Workers to ensure safe, therapeutic delivery of care
- Deliver individual and group interventions that support stabilization and recovery
- Support medically assisted withdrawal and co-occurring disorders treatment plans
- Serve as charge nurse when scheduled and coordinate multidisciplinary team activities
- Float to other units as needed while maintaining standards of care and documentation
- Participate in patient education and discharge planning to promote ongoing recovery
Qualifications
- Active Vermont or Compact Registered Nurse license at time of submission
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience with inpatient psychiatric experience in the last 3 months (LTC not accepted)
- Recent adult forensics experience within the last 3 months required
- American Heart Association BLS (current) required
- Willingness to float to other units and take charge shifts as scheduled
- Two supervisory references from the last 2 years required
- Resume with psych experience and all age groups listed; include driver's license or address for 35-mile residency verification
- CPI training offered onsite; confirm status at submission
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN license
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong psychiatric nursing fundamentals and use of the nursing process
- Experience with group and individual behavioral health interventions
- Clinical supervision skills for mentoring and overseeing MHWs
- Expertise in co-occurring disorders treatment and medically assisted withdrawal
- Charge nurse experience and unit coordination
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary treatment team and varied patient populations
- Comfortable working in a rural facility and adapting to floating assignments
