Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to residents, promoting dignity and independence
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
• Perform safe transfers and mobility assistance while following facility protocols
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident observations
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to deliver coordinated care
• Uphold safety, infection control, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Support residents' social and emotional needs with patience and respect

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent credential
• Current state certification as required by Maryland (must meet state regulations)
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
• Ability to pass background checks, TB/health screenings, and any required onboarding

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; GNA/CNA certificate preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Comfortable taking and recording basic vital signs and observations
• Familiarity with resident safety, infection control, and documentation practices
• Good time management, prioritization, and teamwork skills
• Ability to build rapport with residents and families with empathy and respect
