Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care accurately and timely to keep the care plan current
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through compassionate care
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care goals
Qualifications
- Certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) — required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred
- Ability to pass required health screenings and background checks
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic resident care and common geriatric needs
- Skill in measuring/recording vitals and observing clinical changes
- Familiarity with documentation best practices in healthcare
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and staff
- Understanding of infection prevention and safety protocols
- Ability to follow care plans and instructions from licensed nurses
