Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living to promote resident dignity
- Support safe transfers and mobility while encouraging independence
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care accurately and timely in accordance with facility standards
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
- Valid authorization to work in Maryland and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus; new GNA grads are welcome
- Ability to pass background checks and health screenings as required by the facility
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program and state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Strong communication skills with residents, families, and team members
- Basic understanding of infection control and safety practices
- Good observation skills and ability to report changes in resident status
- Team player attitude with a focus on respectful, person-centered care
