Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Observe and document resident conditions, reporting changes to the nursing team promptly
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities
- Follow individualized care plans and physician/nurse instructions accurately
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control practices
- Collaborate with nursing staff and allied team members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfort working in long-term care or geriatric settings; experience a plus
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and comfort-focused practices
- Safe resident transfer and positioning techniques
- Basic vital signs knowledge and observation of clinical changes
- Accurate charting and documentation skills
- Infection control and hygiene best practices
- Teamwork, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
