Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect nursing care for adolescents using the nursing process to improve outcomes
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status; respond swiftly to clinical changes
• Delegate and supervise interventions performed by others while ensuring high standards of care
• Develop and collaborate on individualized care plans with the multidisciplinary team
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families to promote recovery
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and apply crisis management strategies when needed
• Administer medications and treatments according to policies and best practices
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate clearly to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current Maine RN license (required)
• Graduate of an approved nursing program (required)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
• 1-3 years nursing experience working with children and adolescents preferred
• Basic Dysrhythmia preferred or obtained before completion of orientation
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained before completion of orientation
• Responsible, supportive team player with the ability to work well in high-stress situations

Education

• Graduate of an approved Nursing program

• Pediatric and adolescent psychiatric nursing principles
• Patient assessment, care planning, and documentation
• Crisis de-escalation and therapeutic communication
• Delegation and team supervision
• Medication administration and monitoring
• Basic dysrhythmia recognition (preferred)
• Stress management and resilience in fast-paced settings
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
