Roles & Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens accurately and compassionately from patients of all ages
- Verify patient identity and ensure correct labeling and documentation of specimens
- Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling, storage, and transport
- Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times
- Communicate clearly with patients and clinical staff to ensure a smooth specimen collection process
- Complete required Prime exams, checklists, and documentation in a timely manner
- Participate in required health screenings, fit testing, and competency verifications
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomist (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- DCI/BVP certification (required)
- Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam (required)
- License/Certificate Verification on file
- Ability to pass required personal health screenings and clearances (see list below)
- Availability to work nights and to start the assignment the week specified (no exceptions)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong phlebotomy technique and venipuncture skills
- Specimen labeling, handling, and chain-of-custody best practices
- Infection control and patient safety procedures
- Clear patient communication and bedside manner
- Basic electronic documentation and charting familiarity
- Ability to follow checklists, exam protocols, and competency verification processes
