Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to adults on the behavioral health unit
• Perform thorough assessments and document findings accurately in Meditech
• Implement individualized care plans and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team
• Use de-escalation techniques and CPI-trained strategies to maintain a safe environment
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses with attention to detail
• Support patients through crisis intervention and therapeutic communication
• Advocate for patient needs and collaborate with staff to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in shift handoffs and maintain clear, timely clinical documentation

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Virginia)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (per job posting)
• CPI certification (required)
• Adult Specific Competencies (required)
• CPR/BLS certification (required)
• Experience with Meditech or similar EMR
• Strong soft skills: compassion, communication, and ability to work in a team
• Additional training in behavioral health (preferred)

Education

• Active RN licensure required; ADN or BSN in Nursing preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Behavioral health patient care and crisis intervention
• De-escalation techniques and CPI best practices
• Medication administration and monitoring for psychiatric populations
• Proficient documentation skills in Meditech
• Ability to manage patient ratios (unit notes 1:8)
• Empathy, patience, and strong communication with patients and families
