Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert postpartum and newborn care, ensuring safety and comfort for both mother and baby
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using AWHONN fetal monitoring standards and GE fetal monitors
• Support labor and delivery when needed and assist with transitions to postpartum or nursery care
• Collaborate with physicians, nursery nurses, OB techs, and unit leadership to deliver coordinated patient care
• Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding basics, and postpartum recovery in a compassionate way
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient education in the Meditech/CPN EMR
• Respond quickly to emergencies and assist with neonatal resuscitation when required

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of labor experience (must-have)
• BLS, ACLS, NRP required
• AWHONN fetal monitoring certification required
• Experience with Labor & Delivery, Mother Baby/Postpartum nursing and newborn care
• Comfortable working high-volume LDRP environments (preferred: 2+ years in LDRP with high birth volumes)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR and CPN, and experience with GE fetal monitors
• Willingness to work nights and participate in every-3rd-weekend on-call rotation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and maternal assessment skills
• Skilled in newborn care including routine assessment and transition care
• Labor and delivery nursing expertise with ability to support vaginal and C-section care
• Proficient documentation in Meditech/CPN
• Calm, clear communication and teamwork under pressure
• Ability to teach and support new parents with empathy and confidence
