Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care for critically ill patients in the ICU
• Manage ventilators and titrate respiratory support per protocols
• Monitor cardiac rhythm strips, recognize changes, and escalate concerns promptly to physicians
• Assist with bedside procedures including intubations and bronchoscopies
• Perform and support advanced therapies such as SLED, TEE, and cardioversions as needed
• Document patient care accurately in the Meditech EMR and communicate effectively during handoffs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Support patients and families through education and clear, compassionate communication

Qualifications

• Active RN license (VA) or compact RN license eligible
• Minimum 2 years of ICU / critical care nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certification (required)
• Proven ability to monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and act quickly
• Hands-on experience with ventilator management and assisting with intubation/bronchoscopy
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR and GE bedside monitoring preferred
• Comfort floating to PCU/Telemetry and accepting every-other-weekend schedule
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU nursing and critical care fundamentals
• Cardiac rhythm monitoring and recognition of arrhythmias
• Ventilator management and respiratory support strategies
• Assisting with intubation, bronchoscopy, TEE, and cardioversion procedures
• SLED/renal replacement therapy familiarity
• Experience with Meditech and GE bedside monitoring systems
• Telemetry monitoring and step-down/PCU workflows
• High-energy teamwork, clinical prioritization, and rapid decision-making
