Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care for assigned caseloads, prioritizing safety and dignity
- Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate changes to the care team promptly
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document all interventions in the electronic record
- Collaborate with nurses, providers, and ancillary staff to develop and implement care plans
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions with clarity
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure a clean, safe environment for patients
- Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers when needed
Qualifications
- Active LPN or RN license valid for practice in Maine (or multi-state compact/reciprocal where applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
- Current immunizations, TB testing, background check, and drug screen as required for credentialing
- Previous acute care or long-term care experience preferred; travel nursing experience a plus
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a team-first attitude
Education
- Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN nursing program (diploma, ADN, or BSN as applicable to license)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of nursing assessments, documentation, and care planning
- Medication administration and safe dosing practices
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate charting
- Patient/family education and effective bedside communication
- Basic wound care, vital sign monitoring, and IV/line familiarity appropriate to licensure
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt in a fast-paced clinical setting
