Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-volume venipuncture and draw 1–5 vials per patient accurately and efficiently
• Start and maintain IVs and provide IV therapy per facility protocols
• Administer immunizations, injections, and oral medications safely and document appropriately
• Perform and record QC testing on designated equipment to ensure lab quality
• Prepare and label specimens for pickup and coordinate specimen handling
• Schedule nurse visits for phlebotomy, testing, or other procedures to keep clinic flow smooth
• Handle clinic telephone interactions and triage calls with provider input
• Cover medical assistant duties during absences, illnesses, and breaks to maintain patient care continuity
• Chart thoroughly in Epic (or CS Link when applicable) to keep patient records current

Qualifications

• Current CA LVN License (required)
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC (required)
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions or declinations
• IV certification (required)
• 2+ years nursing experience (outpatient medical setting experience required)
• Recent, demonstrated venipuncture expertise in a high-volume clinic
• Preferred: 3+ years in Internal Medicine or Primary Care and experience with Epic or CS Link
• No pending licenses accepted; must meet RTO/no-RTO guidelines as specified

Education

• Completed Vocational Nursing program and CA LVN License
• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Phlebotomy and venipuncture for large patient volumes
• IV therapy initiation and maintenance
• Immunization administration and vaccine protocols
• Medication administration (IM, SQ, oral) and medication reconciliation
• Vital sign monitoring and basic triage skills
• Telephone triage and clinic communication
• Epic charting and outpatient clinic workflows (CS Link familiarity is a plus)
• Specimen handling, labeling, and QC testing procedures
• Basic EKG acquisition (12-lead) and blood glucose monitoring
• Wound care basics and oxygen/respiratory support (nasal cannula)
