Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour) or 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour) day shifts, same schedule week-to-week; rotating call responsibilities including one weeknight call per week (end of shift until 7:00 AM next morning) and three 24-hour weekend call days per month; rotating shifts including overnight call
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist during a broad range of cases — orthopedics, urology, ENT, neuro (backs and cranials) — with confidence and precision
- Independently perform cranial procedures and support neuro-trauma cases as a competent OR partner
- Provide scrub support for total joint and orthopedic trauma cases, maintaining sterile technique and instrument readiness
- Respond to call assignments promptly (15-minute call response expectation) and provide safe, steady care during extended coverage
- Operate and assist with advanced systems including DaVinci robotics, Mako, Stealth and Scopis when required
- Document patient care and case details accurately in EPIC and follow unit policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy)
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to prioritize patient safety and positive outcomes
- Participate in unit orientation and ongoing improvement efforts; step up, speak up, and contribute to a high-functioning OR
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist / OR experience (CSTs with total joint & level II trauma experience preferred)
- Must be able to scrub and function independently in the OR
- Competent in neuro-trauma (scores 3s in neuro) and able to take neuro-trauma call
- Able to independently perform cranial procedures
- Orthopedic total joint and orthopedic trauma experience required
- BLS certification required; CST certification preferred but not required
- Able to meet the facility’s fingernail/artificial nail policy (no artificial nails) and other facility standards
- Willingness to be flexible with scheduling, float as needed, and work as part of a travel team
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred but not required
- High school diploma or GED required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong scrub technique and sterile field management
- Experience with EPIC charting and perioperative documentation
- Familiarity with robotic and navigation platforms: DaVinci, Mako, Stealth, Scopis
- Instrument knowledge for neuro, ortho, ENT and urology cases
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to advocate for patient safety
- Ability to manage high case volumes (average ~18 cases/day across 11 suites)
- Call readiness and responsiveness (15-minute call response time expected)
