Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide a calm, professional security presence in a hospital setting to keep patients, staff, and visitors safe
• Use de-escalation techniques to defuse tense situations and reduce risk
• Patrol assigned areas, monitor entrances and exits, and observe for safety concerns
• Document incidents clearly and accurately, and report findings to supervisors
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support patient-centered safety
• Respond to alarms and incidents promptly while maintaining composure under pressure

Qualifications

• De-escalation training required as stated in the posting
• Experience in hospital or healthcare security preferred
• Comfortable working night shifts and a rotating weekend schedule
• Must pass background check and any facility-specific screening
• State security guard registration or certification if required by Vermont regulations (obtain if needed)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work professionally with diverse populations

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional security or healthcare-related coursework a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques
• Situational awareness and strong observation skills
• Basic incident reporting and documentation
• Professional communication with staff, patients, and visitors
• Familiarity with hospital safety protocols and patient privacy principles
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound judgments
