Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to patients in a mental health setting, assisting with daily living activities
• Support clinical staff with basic clinical tasks and patient observations to help the team deliver safe care
• Document patient interactions and observations accurately and timely
• Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care
• Help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or Medical Assistant (MA) credential (required)
• Comfort working in a mental health clinical area (Area: Mental Health OT-8HR)
• Willingness to work in a correctional facility (facility: PBSP - Pelican Bay State Prison) and complete any required facility clearances
• Ability to attend a 2–3 week orientation prior to independent assignment

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; current CNA or MA credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient-centered communication and empathy when working with mental health patients
• Basic clinical skills such as vital signs, patient hygiene assistance, and observational reporting
• Sound documentation habits and attention to detail
• Teamwork and the ability to follow direction from licensed clinical staff
• Situational awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe care environment
