Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert peri-operative nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Coordinate patient care closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure safe surgical outcomes
• Lead and guide the OR team, including directing OR technicians and supporting efficient patient flow
• Perform comprehensive patient assessment for neonates through older adults and tailor care plans accordingly
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control practices
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and in-services to advance quality
• Serve as a clinical resource and preceptor to support colleagues and uphold professional standards
• Support unit organization and documentation to enhance continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license with ability to verify via Nursys (Missouri licensure expected)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• DCI/BVP certification as listed by the facility
• Perioperative/Operating Room nursing experience (preferred) with demonstrated OR team coordination
• Willingness to work scheduled on-call evenings/nights and weekend 24-hour coverage
• Must meet facility health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, TB testing/PPD, immunizations, drug screening, fit testing)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Peri-operative care and operating room workflows
• Patient assessment across lifespan: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, older adults
• Care coordination with surgical and anesthesia teams
• OR team leadership and direction of support staff
• Performance improvement processes and participation in unit initiatives
• Familiarity with credentialing and license verification processes (Nursys)
