Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the unit by example — supervise clinical staff and ensure high-quality patient care
• Coordinate patient flow and admissions to keep the unit efficient and safe
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
• Mentor and coach nursing staff, fostering professional growth and strong teamwork
• Monitor quality metrics and participate in performance improvement initiatives
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain accurate clinical documentation
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and clinical leadership to champion patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Maine (or ability to obtain) — required
• Demonstrated unit management or leadership experience in a clinical setting
• Current BLS certification; ACLS or additional certifications preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and experience supervising nursing staff
• Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution abilities
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with the broader care team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in adult nursing and unit-based workflows
• Staff scheduling, delegation, and performance oversight
• Familiarity with quality improvement processes and regulatory standards
• Proficient documentation and electronic health record skills
• Patient advocacy, triage, and care coordination abilities
• Leadership skills that support team morale and professional development
