Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, primarily Nights 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; every-other-weekend coverage required (Fri & Sat nights). Schedule includes occasional day shift rotation (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and floats to Postpartum per rotation. Night shift focus with 12-hour blocks and guaranteed 36 hours/week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care for couples and mother-baby units
• Monitor fetal status using advanced fetal monitoring and Cerner fetal links to ensure safe outcomes
• Serve as charge nurse/triage when assigned, coordinating patient flow and clinical priorities
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and collaborate with Level 2 NICU and Stanford nurses during deliveries
• Document thoroughly in Cerner PowerChart and complete lactation care plans with the team
• Float to Postpartum as needed and support multidisciplinary care with anesthesia, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy
• Support patient communication needs, including coordinating translation services for Mandarin-speaking patients
• Participate in unit safety practices including infant security protocols and team-based NST monitoring

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery or related maternal-child care
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Proven ability to function as charge nurse/triage and to float to Postpartum
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart and Cerner Fetal Links (FHM) highly preferred
• Familiarity with Level 2 NICU care and neonatal resuscitation procedures
• Comfort working rotating 12-hour shifts including night coverage and every-other-weekend requirements
• Mandarin language skills or experience using Vocera translation a plus

Education

• Active RN license in California
• BSN not required; ADN or diploma candidates accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced fetal heart monitoring and NST interpretation
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and neonatal transition care
• Labor and Delivery clinical management including couplet care
• Cerner PowerChart charting and Cerner Fetal Links for FHM
• Charge nurse triage, patient flow, and multidisciplinary coordination
• Postpartum care fundamentals and lactation support processes
• Effective communication with families and use of translation services
• Teamwork in high-acuity obstetric settings and collaboration with anesthesia and NICU
