Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care: assist with bathing, grooming, dressing and oral hygiene
• Support patient mobility: safely position, lift and transfer patients using proper equipment
• Monitor and record vitals and intake/output accurately and report any concerns
• Collect specimens (stool, urine, sputum) and assist with routine treatments under nurse direction
• Prepare patients for meals, assist with feeding, and follow dietary instructions
• Maintain clean, safe and well-stocked care areas — hygiene and infection control matter
• Document care and observations clearly on hospital-approved flow sheets
• Transport patients safely via gurney or wheelchair to other hospital areas
• Participate in recreational and therapeutic activities planned by licensed staff to enhance patient well-being
• Contribute to the care plan by communicating observations and suggested changes to licensed staff

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — essential
• Comfortable performing ADLs, transfers and using patient lifting/transfer equipment
• Familiarity with vital signs measurement and accurate documentation
• Ability to follow directions for oxygen application and routine treatments
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including evenings (2:45 PM - 11:30 PM)
• Ability to collect specimens and assist with basic clinical procedures under supervision
• Valid driver's license for positions that require operating a motor vehicle (if applicable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and patient hygiene
• Skilled in measuring and recording vital signs and intake/output
• Proficient with patient positioning, safe lifting and use of transfer equipment
• Knowledgeable about infection control and safety procedures
• Comfortable with patient documentation/charting on approved forms
• Experience with specimen collection and basic bedside procedures
• Good communication skills for interacting with patients, families and nursing staff
• Ability to participate in and support recreational and therapeutic activities
