Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility to promote independence and prevent falls
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team
- Support mealtime and feeding needs while respecting resident preferences and dignity
- Document care and observations clearly in the patient record to ensure continuity
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families, treating each person with respect
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (T-CNA / state-certified Certified Nursing Assistant) required
- Active ability to work in Maine (travel assignment documentation and verification required)
- Willingness to complete required facility onboarding: background check, drug screen, and health screenings
- Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and basic clinical tasks
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and successful state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in ADL support, transfers, and mobility assistance
- Knowledge of vital signs and basic clinical observation
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Competent documentation and charting practices
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills when working with older adults
- Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nursing staff
