Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional, patient-centered critical care in an 18-bed CVICU with a 1:1 nursing ratio
- Manage and titrate vasoactive drips, sedation, paralytics, and antiarrhythmics safely and confidently
- Care for patients supported by advanced mechanical circulatory devices including ECMO, IABP, and Impella
- Perform ventilator management and troubleshooting in collaboration with respiratory therapists
- Interpret telemetry strips independently and act on changes promptly
- Manage renal replacement therapy needs such as CRRT in coordination with the care team
- Document accurate, timely clinical notes in EPIC and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
- Participate in unit protocols, orientation exams, and follow facility infection control and dress code policies
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted RN license in Nebraska or compact state eligible for Nebraska practice
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; at least 1 year caring for cardiac/CVICU patient population preferred
- Certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS required per unit
- Hands-on experience with ECMO, IABP, Impella and CRRT strongly preferred
- Comfortable titrating drips and managing complex cardiac and post-op open heart patients
- Proven ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Driver's license required at submittal to verify radius rule compliance
- Willingness to complete a pass/fail orientation skills exam (90% required to pass)
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN not required (ADN or diploma accepted); professional development encouraged
Knowledge & Skills
- Titration of vasopressors, sedatives, paralytics, and antiarrhythmics
- Mechanical circulatory support knowledge: ECMO, IABP, Impella
- Renal replacement therapy fundamentals, including CRRT
- Advanced telemetry and strip interpretation
- Ventilator management and respiratory troubleshooting
- EPIC charting proficiency
- Care for post-operative open heart and complex thoracic and vascular patients
- Comfort working without CNA support on unit and collaborating with in-house intensivists
