Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (primarily nights), example shift times: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (night), 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (day), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM; schedule covers all days of the week with every other weekend required, self-scheduling, night-focused assignments available

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care for adult PCU and oncology patients, from diagnosis through treatment
- Safely administer chemotherapy and other infusions, and manage drip titration per protocol (e.g., insulin, cardizem, heparin)
- Monitor and respond to complex hemodynamic data (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000) and manage ventilator care as needed
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC and communicate effectively during handoffs
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (PT/OT, case managers, social work, dietitians) to support holistic patient care
- Perform hourly rounding and patient-centered interventions to improve experience and outcomes
- Serve as a dependable team player on a mixed PCU/MedSurg/Oncology unit with 27-28 beds and dynamic patient needs
- Complete required orientation and competency evaluations (open-book skills exam during orientation; 90% passing requirement)
- Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and unit-specific guidelines including fingernail/artificial nail policy
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state of practice) in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU, oncology, or stepdown experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers welcome)
- ACLS and BLS (AHA) required; NIHSS required; ONS/ONCC and chemotherapy certification preferred
- Comfort with EPIC charting; EPIC experience within 6 months is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to titrate drips and manage infusion therapy
- Driver's license required at time of submittal and compliance with the 50-mile radius rule
- Ability to complete orientation competencies and pass the required exam (90% pass threshold)
- Willingness to float within same level of care (PCU and Med/Surg) and work every other weekend
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records
- Experience with Alaris IV pumps and infusion management
- Ventilator management and respiratory support skills
- Competence in hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000)
- Chemotherapy administration knowledge and safe handling practices
- Skillful drip titration and infusion rate adjustments
- Familiarity with ICP monitoring and critical care equipment (can train in real time)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered bedside manner
