Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for MedSurg and Post-Operative/Recovery patients, maintaining assigned 1:5 patient ratios
• Float within your scope to support MedSurg and Post-Op units as needed, helping keep patient care seamless
• Perform timely and accurate patient charting using EPIC to support coordinated care
• Serve patients with oncology med/surg overflow when required, adapting care plans to varied diagnoses
• Support postoperative recovery activities and monitor patients for changes in condition
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, communicate effectively during handoffs, and escalate concerns promptly
• Participate in orientation learning and demonstrate competency on skills exams to ensure safe practice

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in the facility state
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience (posting indicates 2 years required)
• BLS certification required at time of submission
• Valid driver’s license required at submittal (used to verify radius rule)
• Willingness to pass an open-book orientation skills exam with a minimum score of 90% as required by the facility
• Charge Nurse experience preferred (at least 1 year preferred for charge responsibilities)
• Comfort working with MedSurg and Post-Op patient populations; oncology experience is a plus
• Adherence to facility policies, including fingernail/artificial nail policy for patient care areas

Education

• Associate degree or diploma in Nursing (BSN not required per posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg clinical judgment and acute care skills
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Post-operative recovery monitoring and assessment skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) competency
• Ability to safely administer oxygen and use respiratory supports such as nasal cannula
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced acute care settings
• Ability to adapt to floating assignments within scope and unit-specific workflows
