Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform singular scrub duties for cardiothoracic cases, maintaining strict aseptic technique
• Prepare and maintain case carts, instruments, and scopes for CABG, valve repairs, VATS and other cardiothoracic procedures
• Assist with flexible endoscope reprocessing and scope care to ensure safe, ready-to-use equipment
• Float to General OR and support a broad case mix when census and staffing require
• Support VAD, ECMO, transplant and complex vascular procedures when indicated
• Chart accurately in EPIC and communicate patient and case needs clearly to the team
• Participate in the unit call rotation and provide reliable coverage for weekday and weekend calls
• Contribute to a culture of safety through sharps safety, specimen handling, and time-out protocol compliance

Qualifications

• BLS required
• NBSTSA certification preferred (strongly encouraged)
• WA state registration preferred; pending WA license accepted
• Minimum 2 years OR experience (cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, or strong general OR background preferred)
• Proven experience singular scrubbing for cardiothoracic cases or willingness to be trained quickly
• Comfortable floating between CVOR and General OR; dependable on call
• Familiarity with EPIC charting is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and universal protocol (time-out) procedures
• Care of scopes & fiber optic equipment; flexible endoscope reprocessing
• Laparoscopic and robotic case support experience
• Instrument and case cart management for high-volume surgical services
• Sharps safety, specimen handling and labeling best practices
• Ability to support advanced procedures: CABG, valve surgery, VATS, VAD/ECMO support
• Strong communication, teamwork, and quick-learning mindset
