Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation to support continuity of care
- Promote a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents and families
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and facility staff to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential; T-CNA recognized
- Valid CNA certification or eligibility to practice in New Mexico
- Demonstrated skill in basic patient care and comfortable with 12-hour shifts
- Ability to pass facility-required background checks and health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Previous long-term care or rehab experience is a plus but not strictly required
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic patient care procedures and infection control practices
- Comfortable taking and recording vital signs accurately
- Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and staff
- Time management and prioritization during busy shift periods
- Familiarity with electronic or paper charting systems is helpful
