Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic x-ray exams using proper exposure techniques (mA, kV, time and distance) to produce high-quality images
- Explain imaging procedures clearly and compassionately to patients and families to ensure comfort and understanding
- Apply radiation protection practices and sterile technique to maintain patient and staff safety
- Perform routine quality control checks on radiologic equipment and darkroom processes to ensure optimal imaging
- Maintain accurate imaging records, referral logs and ensure images are stored and tracked in a timely manner
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and support annual inspections by a certified Radiation Physicist
- Participate in team meetings, share clinic updates and contribute to continuous improvement of quality and patient satisfaction
- Assist clinical staff and providers as needed to support smooth clinic operations
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school of radiologic technology (required)
- ARRT certification — must be achieved within 12 months of employment
- Current Iowa permit to practice radiologic technology (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Prior clinical experience in a medical office or urgent care setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and imaging systems
Education
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school of radiologic technology

- Diagnostic radiography and image acquisition
- Patient positioning and care during imaging procedures
- Exposure techniques (mA, kV, time, distance) and image optimization
- Radiation safety, protection practices and regulatory compliance
- Quality assurance and quality control for radiologic equipment
- Electronic health record (EHR) proficiency and image management
- Sterile technique and cross-contamination prevention
- Teamwork, communication and adaptability in a fast-paced urgent care environment
