Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality dental care including exams, diagnosis, and treatment planning
• Perform restorative procedures, extractions and manage dental emergencies
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and treatment records
• Follow strict infection control and safety protocols in a correctional health setting
• Collaborate with the facility health team to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care tailored to the population served
• Help ensure continuity of care by communicating clearly with on-site staff and support teams

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school
• Current California dental license or eligibility to obtain one prior to start
• BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
• Comfort working in a correctional facility environment and passing required background checks
• Strong clinical skills in general dentistry; experience with restorations and extractions preferred
• Professional communication skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• DDS or DMD from an accredited dental program

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of general dentistry procedures and treatment planning
• Proficiency with clinical documentation and basic electronic health record entry
• Infection control best practices and OSHA compliance
• Patient assessment and triage skills for urgent dental needs
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to teach basic oral hygiene
• Time management and efficiency in a high-volume clinic environment
