Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM (Day); rotating weekends required and occasional scheduled holidays
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, clean and reprocess surgical instruments and specialty equipment (including drills, DaVinci instruments and scopes) to ensure patient safety
- Assemble, label and organize trays and case carts using preference cards and sterile wrapping procedures
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (Sterrad, steam sterilizers), washers and ultrasonic cleaners, and document sterilization testing and monitoring
- Perform High-Level Disinfection and flexible endoscope reprocessing using Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) and manual techniques
- Manage Censitrac tracking, equipment documentation and sterile storage to maintain traceability and supply readiness for the OR
- Act as OR liaison — coordinate instrument flow, troubleshooting, and timely delivery to support surgical schedules
- Standardize and procure instrument trays across the enterprise; serve as a subject-matter resource for specialty equipment processing
- Use biological and chemical indicators and other sterilization monitoring tools to maintain compliance and quality assurance
Qualifications
- CBSPD or CRCST certification required
- IAHCSMM and/or HSPA certifications preferred
- Minimum 3 years of sterile processing/reprocessing experience (teaching hospital experience required)
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I preferred
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Ability to float between UHC locations as needed
- Important hiring restriction: candidates with Ohio State listed in work history are not eligible for travel for this role
Education
- Certifications required: CBSPD or CRCST (required)
- IAHCSMM/HSPA (preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent (typical for the field); additional technical education or associate degree in related area is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Aseptic technique, instrument decontamination and tray/set assembly
- Endoscope reprocessing (flexible scopes, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD) and HLD procedures
- Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) operation and troubleshooting
- Sterrad and steam sterilization processes, IUSS, and sterilization monitoring (biological & chemical indicators)
- Censitrac tracking system and sterile storage management
- Use and maintenance of ultrasonic cleaners, washers and sterilizers
- Preference cards, case cart assembly and OR liaison communication
- Specialty equipment processing across multiple surgical service lines (robotics, laparoscopic, ortho, cardiac, transplant, etc.)
