Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide age-specific, direct patient care in the PACU using the nursing process
• Perform timely and thorough patient assessments and communicate findings clearly
• Deliver safe post-anesthesia recovery care and monitor for complications
• Lead and delegate tasks to other team members while maintaining accountability
• Implement and document individualized nursing plans within department standards
• Ensure compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations and facility policies
• Participate in clinical orientation and support unit quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligible for licensure in Vermont
• Previous PACU or post-anesthesia care experience preferred
• Active ACLS and BLS required prior to contract start date
• PALS or ENPC required (PALS or ENPC may be required depending on patient population) and must be active prior to start or with a booked course at orientation
• Demonstrated leadership and delegation skills in a clinical setting
• Strong patient assessment and age-specific care skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Direct patient care and patient assessment expertise
• Solid understanding of the nursing process and clinical documentation
• Ability to provide age-specific care from pediatrics through adults
• Leadership, delegation, and team collaboration skills
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and standards of patient care
• PACU-specific skills including post-anesthesia monitoring and recovery
