Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on personal care and support to residents with dignity and compassion
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff
- Help create a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care plans
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and their families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent
- Active state registration or ability to obtain required Maryland credentials
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with good communication skills
- Previous experience in long-term care or working with older adults is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care techniques and safe resident handling
- Vital signs measurement and documentation
- Infection control practices and hand hygiene
- Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
- Time management skills to support multiple residents and tasks
- Basic electronic or paper charting and reporting
- Understanding of dignity-centered, person-first care principles
