Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage complex post-op cardiac patients, delivering skilled bedside nursing in the CVICU
• Perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring using Swan-Ganz and arterial lines and act on trends
• Oversee ventilator management and provide respiratory support for critically ill patients
• Respond to emergencies and lead ACLS interventions when needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, intensivists, and respiratory therapists
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Meditech charting and order entry
• Provide compassionate education and communication to patients and families during high-stress situations
• Adhere to unit policies, badging, attendance, and the Methodist floating policy to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license required (no temporary licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, CVICU experience strongly preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• NIH required per facility policy
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, ECMO, VAD care, and CRRT
• Meditech documentation experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Hemodynamic monitoring including Swan-Ganz and arterial lines
• Advanced ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Strong critical thinking and situational awareness in high-acuity settings
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic charting and order entry
• Familiarity with post-op CABG, VAD, and cardiac cath patient care
• Ability to work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team and adapt while floating
