Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality bedside care for mixed medical-surgical patients on a 30-bed unit
- Safely manage a patient load consistent with a 5-6:1 ratio while maintaining excellent standards of care
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and transitions
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record
- Respond appropriately to trauma and urgent situations, following unit protocols
- Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and punctuality to support unit morale and flow
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure appropriate for practice in the assignment location (state licensure/compact where applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
- Level I trauma center experience or experience at a mid-to-large hospital (explicit requirement)
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a reliable, timely work ethic
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid Med/Surg nursing skills including assessment, medication administration, and patient education
- Comfort managing 5-6:1 patient ratios while prioritizing safety and quality
- Trauma awareness and the ability to function in a fast-paced, mid/large hospital environment
- Proficiency with bedside monitoring, IV therapy, and common hospital equipment
- Critical thinking, time management, and teamwork mindset
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills
