Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver attentive, patient-centered nursing care for Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and vital signs, responding quickly to changes in condition
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately according to policies
• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update individualized care plans
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education during transitions of care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses thoroughly and timely
• Escalate concerns and collaborate on rapid interventions when clinical deterioration occurs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, step-down, telemetry, or progressive care experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills in a high-acuity setting
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a high-functioning team
• Up-to-date immunizations and compliance with facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• IV therapy, medication administration, and titratable drips experience
• Solid knowledge of progressive care protocols and patient safety practices
• Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
• Basic EMR documentation skills and comfort learning site-specific systems
