Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and continuously monitor critically ill MSICU patients, making rapid, evidence-based decisions that matter
• Manage advanced ICU interventions including chest tubes, trachs, intubations, central lines and arterial lines
• Perform timely admissions, discharges and transfers while coordinating multidisciplinary care plans
• Document patient care clearly and accurately using Meditech and communicate changes to the team
• Provide patient and family education with compassion and clarity during high-stress moments
• Adhere to unit policies (including floating guidelines and badging procedures) to ensure smooth operations
• Participate in bedside procedures and support unit-specific initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license (active only — temporary licenses are not accepted)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Minimum 2-3 years of ICU experience (MICU or MSICU background preferred)
• Comfortable with critical care procedures (intubation support, central lines, chest tubes, art lines)
• Ability to badge in/out on time, take a full 30-minute lunch, and follow unit attendance policies

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills in acute care scenarios
• Proficiency with Meditech charting and order entry preferred
• Familiarity with ICU equipment and monitoring (ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, infusion pumps)
• Skilled in infection control, sterile technique and ICU-level documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to float per Methodist Floating Policy
