Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM (may start at 6:00 AM for Open Heart case prep as needed); Day shifts with scheduled on-call nights 3-4 times/week (on-call window 3:15 PM - 6:45 AM, 15-minute response expectation); Weekend call every 2nd to 3rd weekend (Friday 3:15 PM - Monday 6:45 AM); Rotating holiday coverage required

Roles & Responsibilities

• First scrub on complex cardiovascular cases including CABG and valve surgeries
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instrumentation for CVOR and thoracic cases
• Assist with intraoperative instrumentation for robotics, ECMO and Impella procedures
• Cross-train into general OR and ortho cases as needed to support unit volumes
• Float to the floor as a 1:1 sitter when required to supplement hours
• Respond to on-call requests within 15 minutes and follow post-call reprieve guidelines
• Document case details accurately in EPIC and participate in unit orientation and buddy shifts

Qualifications

• BLS certification required
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT certification required and verification needed
• North Dakota UAP required
• Minimum 2 years CVOR experience preferred (experience with open heart, CABG, valve surgeries)
• Must be able to first scrub and comfortable with thoracic, vascular and robotic cases
• Willingness to cross-train to other OR specialties and float to the floor as a 1:1 sitter
• Ability to meet on-call response times and work rotating weekends/holidays

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile technique and perioperative assistance
• Intraoperative instrumentation and first scrub proficiency
• Experience with ECMO, Impella 5.5 and advanced cardiac support devices
• Familiarity with ION robotic cases and Stryker tower systems
• Comfortable with VATS, AAA, carotid, thoracic and vascular procedures
• Charting and documentation experience in EPIC
• Strong teamwork, communication and adaptability in a fast-paced CVOR environment
