Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert post-operative and critical cardiac care for CTICU/CVICU patients, including those with IABP, ECMO, CRRT, and post-CABG
• Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias rapidly and accurately; pass unit dysrhythmia competency
• Perform and maintain sterile technique for central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions during SIMs Lab and on the floor
• Manage ventilators, invasive hemodynamic monitors including Swan-Ganz catheters, and other advanced life support devices
• Collaborate with intensivists, surgical teams, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy to coordinate high-quality care
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned and support safe patient assignments at high acuity ratios
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care for transplant and thoracic patients, including bronchoscopy and post-op management
• Participate in required orientation, competency checks, and unit-based simulations to ensure quality and safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Arizona or appropriate compact license); employer is willing to wait for license to submit
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience; Level I trauma experience is required
• Current BLS and ACLS required
• CCRN strongly preferred
• Strong IV skills and competence with central line care
• Ability to pass dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed) and pass SIMs Lab skills (Foley insertion and central line dressing change as applicable)
• Travel team requirements: own vehicle, natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testing

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience with Cerner EMR charting
• Dysrhythmia recognition and advanced cardiac life support
• Management of mechanical circulatory support (IABP, ECMO) and post-op cardiac surgery care
• CRRT familiarity and care of renal replacement therapy patients
• Ventilator management and respiratory support collaboration
• Familiarity with TAVR, transplant patient care, bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Ability to maintain sterile field and perform high-volume bedside procedures
