Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity cardiac and post-operative care in the CVICU with excellence
• Assess, monitor and manage complex telemetry and dysrhythmias at the bedside
• Perform and maintain competency in sterile procedures including central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion
• Manage patients with advanced support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO, CRRT) and complex post-op needs
• Collaborate with intensivists, RT, pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
• Act as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating care and supporting bedside staff
• Respond to bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy and Swan-Ganz catheter placement
• Document care accurately in Cerner and support high standards of patient safety

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (able to submit license; willingness to wait noted)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/CVICU experience; Level I trauma experience is required
• BLS and ACLS required; CCRN preferred
• Strong IV skills and experience with central line care and Foley catheter insertion
• Proven ability to interpret dysrhythmias — must pass dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts allowed)
• Ability to pass SIMs Lab skills (sterile technique, Foley and central line skills) on orientation day
• Willingness to float to other ICUs and tele units and work required weekends/holidays
• Travel requirements: must have own vehicle, natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing

Education

• Active RN license in the practicing state
• BSN preferred (not explicitly required)
• CCRN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac ICU/CVICU clinical expertise and critical care nursing best practices
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition (Phillips telemetry experience helpful)
• Cerner EMR charting proficiency
• Familiarity with mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella) and CRRT/ECMO basics
• Central line and Foley care, sterile technique and bedside procedure support
• Post-cardiac surgery care (CABG, TAVR, transplant recovery) and ventilator management
• Strong clinical judgment, patient advocacy and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
