Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule includes 3-4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks and holiday rotation as needed (night shift)

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert, high-acuity care to post-op cardiac and CVICU patients, including TAVR and transplant patients
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and promptly identify dysrhythmias
- Perform and manage central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions with strict sterile technique
- Operate and collaborate on advanced therapies such as IABP, CRRT and ECMO when indicated
- Support bedside procedures including bronchoscopy assistance, Swan-Ganz management and epidural care
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and communicate clearly with the multidisciplinary team
- Float to other ICUs and telemetry units as needed, providing consistent, safe patient care
- Participate in SIMs Lab competency assessments (pass/fail) and demonstrate sterile-field competence
- Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating patient flow and unit resources
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to submit; facility willing to wait if needed)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; CVICU or Cardiac ICU experience strongly preferred
- Level I trauma experience is required
- ACLS and BLS required; CCRN preferred
- Strong IV skills and central line/sterile technique competency
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed prior to disqualification)
- Experience with 12-hour shifts and high-acuity 1:1 patient ratios
- Willingness to comply with facility appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men clean-shaven for fit test)
- Travel teams must have their own vehicles
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
- Post-cardiac surgery and transplant patient management
- Central line care, Foley insertion, and strict sterile technique
- Experience with CRRT, IABP and ECMO workflows
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry
- Strong IV insertion and management skills
- Ability to function effectively in high-acuity, fast-paced ICU environments
- Collaborative communication with intensivists, RT, pharmacy and nursing aides
