Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiac and post-op care in a CTICU/CVICU setting with 1:1–1:2 patient ratios
• Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias and manage complex cardiac devices like IABP and ECMO when indicated
• Perform and maintain competency in advanced bedside procedures including Foley insertion, central line dressing changes, Swan-Ganz monitoring and bronchoscopy assistance
• Collaborate closely with intensivists, respiratory therapy and pharmacy to deliver timely, evidence-based care
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned and support unit flow without direct patient assignment as needed
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and communicate handoffs clearly to ensure continuity
• Float to other ICUs and telemetry units as needed, providing flexible, competent coverage across the service line

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (eligible candidates with license-to-submit accepted)
• Minimum 2 years ICU/critical care experience; Level I trauma experience REQUIRED
• BLS and ACLS required; CCRN preferred
• Strong IV skills; competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes required
• Comfortable with high-acuity cardiac postop patients, telemetry monitoring (Phillips), and frequent bedside procedures
• Able to pass dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts) and SIMs Lab skills (pass/fail) during orientation
• Reliable transportation (travel teams must have their own vehicle) and adherence to facility appearance/fit-test policies

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — license to submit accepted
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring (Phillips telemetry)
• Experience with Cerner EMR for charting and documentation
• IV insertion and management, central line care and sterile field maintenance
• Care of patients with IABP, CRRT, ECMO and post-CABG/post-transplant management
• Ability to manage ventilated patients in collaboration with RT and participate in bedside procedures
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills in fast-paced ICU environments
