Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert CVICU nursing care for post-op open heart and high-acuity cardiac patients, including AMI, CAD and PVD cases
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and accurately interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Manage advanced cardiac support devices and therapies such as IABP and CRRT, and perform fresh post-op open heart surgery care
• Titrate vasoactive and sedative drips safely and per protocol (Dex, Propofol, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Levo, Neo, Insulin, Cardene)
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support including vents, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm and HiFlow
• Collaborate with intensivists, house supervisors and multidisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
• Document accurately in Cerner and maintain clear communication during handoffs and critical events
• Participate in unit responsibilities such as occasional call/standby and required weekend coverage

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Arizona (must be eligible to work in state)
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Hands-on experience with IABP and CRRT and recent post-op open heart surgery (Fresh OHS) experience required
• Ability and willingness to titrate drips and manage advanced cardiac/ventilatory support
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
• Travel duo candidates must provide their own vehicles and will not share schedules
• Candidates must not have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year

Education

• Active RN license (Arizona)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
• Proficiency with titratable vasoactive drips and sedation management
• Ventilator management and experience with noninvasive respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP, HiFlow, Vapotherm)
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and in-room Nihon Kohden systems
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
• Comfort managing high-acuity ratios (1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity) and working independently without nurse aides
• Ability to work in a fast-paced ICU with intensivist support and collaborate clearly with the team
