Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during Cardiac Cath, Electrophysiology (EP) and Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures with precision and calm
- Prepare and maintain sterile procedure areas and ensure all cath lab equipment is ready and functioning
- Operate imaging and monitoring equipment and support image acquisition for diagnostic and interventional cases
- Monitor patient status throughout procedures and communicate changes promptly to the care team
- Document procedures and patient information accurately in Epic EMR
- Support high-volume lab workflow — this role contributes directly to managing 40–50 unit cases per day
- Respond reliably to on-call assignments and provide weekend coverage as scheduled
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a 719-bed Level I Trauma center to deliver high-quality patient care
Qualifications
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) via CCI required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant cath lab or cardiovascular technologist experience
- CVT credential or equivalent cardiovascular technologist training highly desirable
- Experience with Epic EMR (charting and documentation)
- Comfort working in a high-volume, Level I Trauma hospital and participating in call rotation
Education
- CVT (Cardiovascular Technologist) certification or completion of a relevant cardiovascular technologist program preferred
- Associate degree or equivalent technical training preferred
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac catheterization and interventional procedure workflow (Cath Lab, EP, IR)
- Fluoroscopy and imaging fundamentals used in invasive cardiovascular procedures
- Sterile technique and infection control practices in procedural areas
- Proficient Epic EMR documentation and charting
- Strong clinical judgement, patient monitoring, and rapid response during procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain cath lab equipment and supplies
- Team communication and ability to thrive in a fast-paced trauma center
