Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care to expectant mothers and newborns
- Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status using fetal monitoring and clinical assessment
- Respond rapidly and confidently to obstetric and neonatal emergencies
- Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and neonatal teams to deliver coordinated care
- Support and educate families through labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient status in the medical record
- Assist with deliveries and perform post-delivery care for mother and newborn
Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to verify license required)
- BLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Prior labor and delivery experience, comfortable working night shift
- Ability to pass Trinity 10 panel drug screen, Fit Test, and color vision testing
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening: COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, and PPD/IGRA
- Completed physical/health statement
Education
- Active RN license required
- ADN or BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of labor and delivery procedures and maternal/newborn assessment
- Proficient with electronic fetal monitoring and interpretation
- Skilled in neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care
- Excellent critical thinking and rapid decision-making under pressure
- Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
- Teamwork and collaboration within multidisciplinary obstetric teams
- Accurate clinical documentation and charting
