Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for adult and pediatric patients, prioritizing safety and rapid assessment
• Perform trauma assessments and implement care according to Level I trauma protocols
• Triage patients effectively to ensure timely treatment in a fast-paced ED environment
• Administer medications, IVs, and emergency interventions with precision and confidence
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record and participate in shift handoffs
• Participate in required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence
• Support family-centered care and communicate clearly with patients and families during critical moments

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license valid in Connecticut (compact license accepted if applicable)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS or ENPC required; TNCC required
• Level I trauma experience preferred
• Ability to pass Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Required health clearances: fit test, respirator evaluation, Tdap, 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/T-Spot), COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, physical/health statement, and Trinity 10-panel drug screen
• Strong critical thinking, triage skills, and ability to perform under pressure
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency assessment and rapid decision-making
• Trauma care protocols and stabilization techniques
• Pediatric emergency care and age-appropriate interventions
• IV therapy, medication administration, and advanced life support
• Familiarity with ED workflows and electronic health record documentation
• Ability to prioritize multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
