Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced emergency setting
- Stabilize and manage acute and trauma patients using current ED protocols
- Administer medications, IVs and treatments safely and document care in the electronic record
- Collaborate with physicians, trauma teams and multidisciplinary staff to deliver timely care
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and next steps
- Maintain required competencies and certifications to ensure top-quality emergency care
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (able to practice in the state of assignment)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
- Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Ability to pass Trinity specialty competency testing, respirator fit test and standard health screenings
- Strong clinical judgment, ability to work under pressure and effective communication skills
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (diploma, ADN or BSN) or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid emergency department nursing and trauma care knowledge
- Triage skills and rapid assessment of critically ill patients
- Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration and emergency procedures
- Familiarity with trauma team activation and Level 1 trauma workflows
- Comfortable working with electronic health records and completing thorough documentation
- Team-oriented approach, clear communication and patient-centered bedside manner
