Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM - 5:15 PM (day shifts); rotating on-call: 1 weekend (Saturday or Sunday) on-call 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, plus four weekday overnight on-call shifts 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM per long-term assignment. Rotating day and night coverage including weekends.

Hours per Week: 42

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments and supplies in a timely, sterile manner
• Maintain strict sterile technique and environmental safety throughout the case
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge and needle counts prior to, during and after surgery
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and nursing staff to deliver excellent patient care
• Complete specialty competency testing and skills checklists as required by the facility
• Document perioperative care and maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Support patient comfort and safety through thoughtful communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Trinity specialty specific competency testing and Trinity skills checklist completion required
• Current immunizations and health screens as listed by the facility (Fit test, Trinity 10 panel drug screen, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, influenza vaccine, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement)
• Previous OR experience preferred; ability to work 10-hour day shifts and rotating on-call shifts
• State licensure or registration if applicable in Michigan

Education

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred
• High school diploma or GED required; completion of formal surgical tech training highly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Familiarity with operating room workflow and aseptic protocols
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure environments
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently and adapt to changing case schedules
• Comfortable with perioperative documentation and following facility competency requirements
• Attention to detail for counts and infection prevention practices
