Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (examples: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM). Schedule varies and includes weekends and holidays; may require floating to OBS unit and the Freestanding Creighton ER. Night-focused assignments available (12-hour nights) with typical guaranteed 36 hours/week.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality emergency care to patients across all acuity levels in a Level I Trauma Center
- Stabilize and triage trauma, stroke, sepsis, chest pain, and respiratory patients with confidence
- Administer and manage IV drips and emergency medications according to protocols
- Interpret telemetry and monitor strips and act on changes in patient status
- Collaborate with ED physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, and support staff to deliver coordinated care
- Perform trauma team duties and one-on-one care in ICU/trauma situations when needed
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and competency validation, including an open-book skills exam during onboarding
- Float to OBS and off-site Creighton ER as required to maintain patient care coverage
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for submission (license to submit required)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (ED/trauma experience preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS and NIHSS required; NRP preferred
- Proven ability to read and interpret telemetry/monitor strips
- Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify 50-mile radius)
- Must not be currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
- Ability to pass a skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation (open-book, pass/fail)
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-acuity Level I Trauma ED
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency and trauma nursing best practices and triage
- Experience with EPIC charting system
- Telemetry/monitor interpretation and cardiac monitoring
- IV therapy and common ED drips management
- Pediatric emergency care familiarity (PALS and NRP exposure a plus)
- Strong teamwork, communication, and rapid clinical decision-making
- Ability to work with charge nurses, ED physicians, mid-levels, and support staff effectively
